Adjunct Instructor - Surveying

DEPARTMENT:

STATUS:
Temporary, non-benefit eligible position and employment is determined on a course by course, contract basis

PAY RANGE:
Pay is determined by the number and type of credits taught

SUMMARY:
The Adjunct is responsible for teaching Survey-grade GPS Control Analysis in the Survey AAS program. The course may include alternative delivery methods; day, evening or weekend times. The course is scheduled to be taught from 3/9/2022 to 5/12/2022.

This course is a review of basic Global Positioning System principles, maintenance and adjustment of equipment, instruction and practice in field and office procedures for collecting and processing survey-grade GPS data, student-designed projects with instructor supervision utilizing both fast static and RTK GPS survey techniques to extend a control network, and master field and office procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Provides career oriented instruction and support to students to assist them in the development and/or improvement of Survey-grade GPS Control Analysis.
  • Provides quality instruction by using effective lesson plan development and strategies
  • Fosters positive student and community relations
  • Maintains and submits instructional records in accordance with requirements
  • Integrates subject area with other related curricula
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies
  • Works professionally with college faculty and staff to aid with the educational process
  • Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment
  • Attends meetings and participates in student and/or program assessment as directed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Reports to Director, Trades and Industrial Arts
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate’s degree or higher in surveying or civil engineering; AND,
  • Current Montana Licensed Professional Land Surveyors (PLS)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years of surveying experience,
  • Experience teaching college-level surveying courses
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or higher-level coursework.

  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels
  • Ability to occasionally work non-traditional schedules for events, including evenings, and weekends, as needed

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
  • Ability to perform a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
