Postdoc Research Associate - Experimental High Energy Physics

Baylor University

Job Description

Job Description

What We Are Looking For:

Baylor University has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Experimental High Energy Physics. The successful candidate will join the Experimental High Energy Physics group led by Profs. Brinkerhoff, Dittmann, and Hatakeyama to participate on the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

The group currently plays a major role in the operation of the recently upgraded hadron calorimeter, the Phase 2 upgrade of the endcap calorimeter, trigger system optimization, and improvement of particle flow reconstruction. We are currently engaged in searches for rare Higgs decays, searches for supersymmetry and other new phenomena, and measurements of rare standard model processes. We vigorously pursue the use of machine learning techniques for data analysis.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and research experience in experimental high energy physics. The successful candidate is expected to carry out novel physics analyses, as well as to contribute to CMS event reconstruction improvements related to particle flow, the operation of the CMS detector and/or future detector upgrades. Candidates should have extensive programming experience in C++ and Python, and some experience in parallel programing, machine learning techniques, and reconstruction software development is preferred.
