Classification Title Postdoctoral Researcher
Working Title Post-Doctoral Researcher
Brief Position Overview
The Wetzel, Kansman, and Wanner labs at Montana State University are looking for a postdoctoral scholar to work on a USDA-funded project on the agroecology of grasshoppers. The work examines the agroecology of how grasshoppers move from wildlands into agricultural lands in Montana. Even though grasshoppers have frequent outbreaks and are a widespread agricultural threat in many systems, we have a poor understanding of their agroecology. We seek both a deeper understanding of the ecology as well as ecologically-based solutions that use plants and plant diversity for sustainable grasshopper management. We are interested in a range of topics that connect grasshopper movement and feeding behavior, inter- and intra-specific diversity of crop plants and wild plants, trap crops, push-pull, and chemical ecology.
