The Opportunity

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor in Cultural Anthropology, anticipated to begin August 2024.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cultural anthropology and medical anthropology. We are especially interested in an individual who can contribute through their research, teaching and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community and foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive. Geographical research area is open.

The Department of Anthropology currently includes 22 full-time faculty who are committed to innovative teaching at the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. levels.  Anthropology faculty demonstrate significant scholarly research, collaborative community partnership development, and active professional organization involvement. Minimum Qualifications:

A doctorate in Anthropology or a closely related discipline with a specialization in Medical Anthropology from an accredited institution by time of hire is required. The research specialization should focus on health disparities that can include various marginalized identities, such as racialized communities, diasporic populations, LGBTQIA+ communities, and/or other vulnerable populations.  

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a successful research program that includes peer-reviewed publications, a record of, or potential for, external funding as appropriate for the discipline, and the ability to advise and mentor graduate students.
