Position Highlights College of Applied Science and Technology at the University of Arizona has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This position is for 6 months (January-July of 2024). Start and end dates are negotiable. Remote work option is possible for the 6-month position.

The position is part of the Aspiring Powers Initiative and will focus on the role of China and Russia in challenging the existing international order. The research effort will also focus on measuring collaborations between these states, including military, technology, and information operations.

The position will be supervised by Dr. Dmitriy Nurullayev.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities consist of:
Conducting research and gathering data on the foreign policies of emerging powers, including China, Russia, and India.
Prepare manuscripts for submission for peer review (co-authored with Dmitriy Nurullayev)
Expectation is 1 completed research manuscript per 6-months period to be submitted to a leading academic journal in political science.
Participate in activities and initiatives of the UArizona Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Quantitative research skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a PhD in political science or in a related field upon hire.
  • ABDs must demonstrate that they will have successfully defended their dissertation prior to the start date.
  • Experience in political science research. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience publishing in leading peer-reviewed journals in Political Science.
  • Research background in BRICS, China, Russia, Great Power Competition.
  • Research background in emerging technologies and information warfare.
