Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator I. Reporting to the Associate Director of Community Engagement, the Program Coordinator assists in developing Career Development Center programs, services, and events to students and alumni of Rutgers-Newark.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Supports the collaboration of the CDC across campus by aligning messaging and developing partnerships that increase awareness of the CDC in supporting students in their career development/career readiness
  • Works collaboratively with university departments to meet the evolving needs of a culturally diverse student population
  • Leads the planning and execution of career community programs that may reflect industry information, social identities, or career development/career readiness concepts
  • Supervises student workers who will support programming/events, career community, or other activities to support the functions of the CDC

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or related fields, and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of programming and event planning, career development, event planning and coordination, workshop facilitation, office administration and report writing.
  • Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, analytical skills, and the ability to work well with a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, College Personnel, or other closely related fields.
  • Experience within a higher education setting, especially within a career services office, is highly preferred.
Equipment Utilized
  • Knowledge of traditional office equipment (ie. copy machines, printers, fax machine, computers etc.), Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with office software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite and equivalents, database packages, calendaring applications, email services)
  • Understanding and experience with career services software, such as internship and employer database systems (i.e., Handshake, Symplicity, etc.) and career assessment instruments (i.e., FOCUS, Myers-Briggs, etc.)
  • Emerging social media and online teaching platforms
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be willing to work some nights and weekends as well as travel when needed.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
