The lab of Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett-Helaire at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is a diverse team of viral immunologists, molecular virologists, and protein engineers. Together, they use their expertise to inform vaccine development and therapeutic antibody discovery for coronaviruses and other emerging and re-emerging viruses. They strive to understand the immune landscape of viral surface proteins, decipher the influence of immune responses on the clinical outcome following natural viral infection, and translate their findings to rationally design and evaluate novel vaccine concepts – all in the name of pandemic preparedness . About the Research Technician role:
As the Research Technician, you will work collaboratively alongside a postdoctoral fellow on the endemic coronavirus project . This position will provide you with an excellent opportunity for scientific learning, further development of your skills, and opportunities for growth in an intellectually stimulating environment. What you’ll do:

• Work collaboratively alongside a postdoctoral fellow on the endemic coronavirus project.

• Perform a variety of techniques involving molecular biology, sterile cell culture, and flow cytometry.

• Become knowledgeable about safety protocols and precautions in the lab.

• Attend and participate in weekly lab meetings.

What you bring:

• A bachelor's degree in a biological science or closely related field is required.

• Previous research experience in an academic laboratory is preferred.   

• Experience with cell culture is preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills with strong attention to detail.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proactive, professional, and self-motivated approach to work with an eagerness to learn, grow, and be mentored.

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic, diverse, and growing team.

• Strong digital literacy with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids and presence of carcinogenic substances or other hazardous materials.

Pay Type:

HHMI’s salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
