Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience


Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or related field.
Postdoctoral research experience.
Experience with both U3000 and Vanquish New HPLCs as well as Q Exactive Plus and Exploris 480 mass spectrometers.
Experience with laboratory methods for sample preparation: (1) protein extraction and digestion into peptides (2) sample desalting (3) isobaric labeling of peptides (4) enrichment of peptides that are acetylated, ubiquitinated, and/or phosphorylated.
Experience in plant molecular biology (gene cloning, expression analyses) and genetics of Arabidopsis and corn.


Job Description:

This position will be responsible for maintaining and operating integrated High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and mass spectrometer systems (LC-MS) for proteomics. This position will need to be able to diagnose instrument performance issues as well as perform minor repairs. In addition to maintaining the LC-MS system the Research Scientist needs working and demonstrated knowledge of laboratory methods for sample preparation including 1) protein extraction and digestion into peptides 2) sample desalting 3) isobaric labeling of peptides 4) enrichment of peptides that are acetylated, ubiquitinated, and/or phosphorylated. In addition to the analytical chemistry skills described above, the Research Scientist will work on molecular biology (gene cloning, expression analyses) and genetics in plants.
