Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Endocrinology or Immunology

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Endocrinology or Immunology with emphasis on studies of basic principles in cellular and molecular endocrinology (hormonal regulation of physiological homeostasis) or immunology (innate or adaptive immunity).  Of particular interest is research related to environmental impacts on immune or hormone systems, and their effects on organismal function. The successful candidate will use modern research approaches, can employ model systems, and have the skills to work independently as well as in collaborative groups. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain external funding to support a vibrant research program, engage in mentoring undergraduate and graduate research, and effectively teach courses in their area of expertise, which will include endocrinology or immunology, and allied subjects.  They will interact with diverse faculty, staff, and students within and between departments, including members from the Advanced Environmental Research Institute (AERI: http://aeri.unt.edu) and the BioDiscovery Institute (BDI: http://bdi.unt.edu), contributing to a strong tradition of interdisciplinary and collaborative research.

Minimum job requirements include a doctoral degree in Endocrinology or Immunology, or a related field with postdoctoral experience. Preference will be given to applicants with 1) at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience in endocrinology or immunology, or allied field, 2) a proven record or propensity to obtain external funding to support an active research program, 3) a growing record of scholarship and publication in higher-tier journals in the applicant’s field of study, and 4) an academic record demonstrating the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching among a diverse student population.
