Faculty / Directorate

The Maths Learning Centre is situated within Learning Services based in the Directorate of Library and Student Services.

Learning Services is a lively, enthusiastic and supportive team who have achieved a national reputation for the quality and range of their work with learners and welcome new colleagues to support continuing demand for our work and wider contribution to DMU.

Role

Your main activities will include:

  • Delivering, reviewing and improving the provision of Maths and/or Statistics support within the Maths Learning Centre
  • Supporting undergraduate, postgraduate and research students through drop-ins, individual or small group tutorials, and workshops
  • Developing high quality online and face-to-face learning resources

A crucial part of the job will be to lead the Statistics support across the University.

The role would suit someone who has good statistical knowledge and is willing to develop this further, with a view to:

  • Providing guidance for statistical analysis in relation to undergraduate and postgraduate student dissertations and projects
  • Working with colleagues across the University to promote and develop Statistics support

You will be joining the team at an important stage of growth and development and we are seeking an individual who has the energy, initiative and ability to develop into the role and to promote and expand our service.

This is a face-to-face, on campus (Leicester) teaching role.

 

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting students to develop their confidence and understanding of Maths/Statistics.

You will have a good degree in a Maths/Statistics related subject and have some post-16 teaching experience.

Having the potential to develop into the role of taking the lead in Statistics support is essential.

The post is available for an immediate start. However, for the ideal candidate, we are willing to accommodate a longer notice period.
