Position Summary

The Department of Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis (https://anthropology.artsci.wustl.edu/ ) is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to join the Reproductive Ecology and Behavioral Endocrinology Laboratory (REBEL) directed by Dr. Krista Milich.

This postdoc will work on an NIH-funded project investigating disease transmission dynamics between wildlife and people. The position includes time in both St. Louis, MO, USA, and Kibale National Park, Uganda. The successful candidate will be involved with behavioral, ecological, and health data collection on wild red colobus monkeys and human subjects research with people living around the park, as well as fecal sample collection from both humans and nonhuman primates.  

The selected candidate will be offered an initial contract for one year, with possible renewal. The position is funded for a maximum of five years. Review of applications will begin 10 November 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.

Required Qualifications

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicants for this position should have experience with field work (e.g. animal behavior, wildlife ecology, human biology), laboratory work, and data analysis.
  • Preference for applicants experienced with studying wild nonhuman primates and/or human subjects research, general laboratory skills, experience with fecal sample collection and preparation, and managing research teams.
  • Candidates should have expertise in biological anthropology, biology, animal behavior, ecology and evolution, global health, or a related field.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
