Description:

Position Summary

Community Education Non-Credit Trainer is hired on a per course basis, provides training in non-credit subjects in workforce development, continuing education, non-transcript certificates, and/or personal enrichment contexts.

Develops and delivers industry related training such as basic skills, English language acquisition, workplace communication, targeted industry training, and job skills training. This is a fixed-term position tied to the length of the course.

Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, prepares, and follows an approved non-credit course of study that includes objectives for each session.
  • Delivers training lectures, facilitates learning activities and provides frequent and timely feedback to students regarding their progress in the course.
  • Develops course curriculum, materials, handouts, lectures, and learning activities that are updated regularly to ensure relevancy and currency; selects required course resources as needed.
  • Assists students, individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, and performance.
  • Provides students with a course outline that provides information detailing learning topics and objectives, assignments, and methods of evaluation.
  • Ensures effective learning environment for diverse populations.
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Must be computer literate with a basic knowledge of operating programs within the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with an ethnic and culturally diverse staff and student population.
Requirements:

Required Education and Experience

  • Must meet trainer degree, certification or licensure requirements related to course content or other defined criteria.
  • May require prior teaching or industry experience directly related to the program or course, as determined by the Dean of Regional Workforce and Community Education.

 

Part Time:

This is a part time position, hours vary depending on class, not to exceed 29 hours per week. Part time employees earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.

Pay: Varies depending on qualifications.
