Post-Doctoral Scholar


Department:
Medicine | Neurological Surgery

Post-Doctoral Scholar to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in a neurorehabilitation research laboratory within the Department of Neurological Surgery and in collaboration with the NeuroTech Institute; plans, designs, and executes translational studies investigating novel rehabilitation interventions, technologies, and cellular or genetic therapies for adults with neurological conditions. Conditions may range from upper extremity sensorimotor impairment/paralysis due to stroke or spinal cord injury, neurodegenerative diseases, or epilepsy. Collect and analyzes data for research sponsored by the Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other agencies; perform analysis of data and prepares results of research for dissemination at national/international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals; actively participates in the recruitment and enrollment of prospective study participants; contributes to the innovation, development and testing of novel neurotechnologies for people neurological impairments; assists principal investigator (PI) with preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts, as well as grant proposals to obtain outside funding from state and federal agencies; assists in the management of undergraduate and graduate students to meet the objectives of the lab.

Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/Desired

Doctoral degree in health sciences or related field, neuroscience preferable; strong writing, analytical, and communication skills are expected; prior training and experience in bioengineering and coding/programming preferable. Requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
