This position is in support of NIH-funded research into the molecular basis of the plant circadian clock. The projects address the roles of protein phosphorylation, protein-protein interactions in clock protein function, nucleocytoplasmic shuttling and long-distance circadian signaling. The Post Doctoral Scholar job duties will include: design and implementation of circadian clock experiments including performance of time series luciferase based imaging experiments and analysis and interpretation of resulting data.

Minimum Education Required

Ph.D in Plant Biology/Plant Sciences, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics or equivalent field.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Significant research experience (minimum 5 years) in areas of plant molecular genetics, protein biochemistry, cell biology, and plant physiology. Previous experience working with Arabidopsis. Expertise with qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, chromatin immunoprecipitation, protein co-immunoprecipitation, yeast two hybrid and circadian time series analysis. Competence in quantitative determinations of RNA and protein levels from plant extracts; PCR-based genotyping of plants. Competence in performance of genetic crosses and plant growth using Arabidopsis. Competence in protein, DNA and RNA extraction from plant tissue including preparation of appropriate solutions.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with confocal microscopy desired. The ability to work both independently and cooperatively within the lab is an asset.
