Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.  The primary purpose of the Temporary Work Assistant position is to work under the direction of the principal investigator to gain research skills and training in bioinformatics analysis and research in the area of cancer epigenetics/cancer immunology. Under direction, performs and assists with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of specialized research activities of the laboratory. 
Among the key duties for this position are the following: 
  • Works under the direction of the principal investigator. 
  • Conducts bioinformatics analysis and research in the area of cancer epigenetics/cancer immunology.
  • Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
  • Gives oral presentations of the research.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or has completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of related research experience, including experience with molecular cloning, cell culture, and animal handling is preferred. 
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs, and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
