Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University invites applications for a two year postdoctoral position(s) with possible extension to a third year subject to availability of funding. The expected start date is August 16, 2024.

This opening is in Discrete Mathematics aligning with research interests of Prof. Steve Butler, Prof. Shira Zerbib, or Prof. Bernard Lidicky. This includes combinatorial matrix theory, graph and hypergraph theory, spectral graph theory, discrete geometry, topological combinatorics, and extremal combinatorics.

The position has a 2-1 teaching load and a requirement to be involved with mentoring undergraduate students in research through the Iowa State Math Research Teams (ISMaRT, https://sites.google.com/view/ismart-iastate).  


Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Mathematics or related field.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research Experience in Discrete Mathematics
  • Experience teaching and mentoring students.

August 15, 2026

12 Month Work Period
