Post-Doctoral Researcher Position in

Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Alzheimer’s Disease

Post-Doctoral Researcher positions are available immediately at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Vassar, Professor of Neurology. The postdoctoral research project will involve investigations of molecular and cellular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis. Possible areas of focus include the mechanism by which Abeta triggers tau pathology, brain-gut microbiome interactions, BACE1 inhibition as a therapeutic strategy, the role of calcium dynamics, and microglial interactions with amyloid. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a field of the life sciences and/or M.D. degree. Experience/degree in neuroscience is not required but is advantageous.  Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in current molecular and cellular techniques such as single cell and bulk mRNAseq, molecular genetics/genomics, protein engineering and purification, live cranial window imaging in mice, calcium imaging, cell culture, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy and image analysis. Familiarity with genetic mouse models is preferred. Experience with manuscript writing and preparation is necessary. Ideal candidates will be highly self-directed to independently execute projects while working collaboratively within a team. Salary will be commensurate with experience, based on the NIH scale.
