Job Description Summary:
Dr. William Kinsey’s laboratory seeks to recruit a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow, trained in the field of female reproductive biology, to join our investigation into the effect of maternal age and endoplasmic reticulum stress on oocyte quality.  This emerging field focuses on oocyte activation failure in aged females with the goal of improving the success rate of IVF/ICSI in domestic animals and humans. The project involves oocyte culture, in vitro maturation and fertilization, microinjection and exogenous cRNA expression, as well as live cell and fixed cell confocal imaging.   As part of the Center for Reproductive Sciences (CRS), our lab interacts actively with this very productive group with interests in reproductive endocrinology, follicle development and ovulation, male and female contraception, embryo development and implantation as well as reproductive tract diseases.  Fellows are included in Center activities and are encouraged to interact with other labs in our group as well as visiting scientists as part of their professional training. 
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:

Education:  PhD or equivalent in a scientific field.

Work Experience:

  • Experience with basic cell and molecular biology procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

Education: PhD or equivalent with specialization in reproductive science and oocyte biology

Work Experience:

  • 1st author publications relating to Reproductive Biology.

  • Experience with research animals including maintenance of animal inventory and breeding records.

  • Experience with molecular cloning, in - vitro transcription and genotyping.

  • Experience with proteomic methods including SDS-PAGE and Western blot techniques.

  • Experience with microscopy methods including confocal immunofluorescence.


Job Duties Outlined:

  • Design and execute laboratory experiments and analyze resulting data with particular attention to rigor and reproducibility.

  • Manage and work with young and aged mice including oocyte recovery, in-vitro maturation, IVF and embryo culture.

  • Maintain institutional regulatory compliance and training.

  • Interpret findings and present results at laboratory and Center meetings.

  • Draft and write abstracts and manuscripts suitable for publication.

  • Participate in grant writing for local and national institutions.

  • Present data at regional and national meetings.

  • Perform other duties assigned by PI.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
