Position Highlights The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Arizona, seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with expertise in cybersecurity with a focus on secure hardware architectures, microelectronic supply chain, reliable VLSI design, hardware Trojans, hardware counterfeiting, anomaly and failure detection, and security-aware custom computing.

The successful candidate will participate in research in The Systems and Security Lab (S&S) directed by Dr. Pratik Satam in the Systems and Industrial Engineering Department and Privacy-Preserving, Intelligent, and Secure Computing (PRISM) lab directed by Dr. Soheil Salehi in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The position is full-time and on-site at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform novel research while collaborating in ongoing research on cybersecurity, education, and workforce development in the Systems and Security Lab (S&S) and Privacy-Preserving, Intelligent, and Secure Computing (PRISM) lab.
  • Supervise and manage on-going projects, equipment, and testbeds in the Systems and Security Lab (S&S) and Privacy-Preserving, Intelligent, and Secure Computing (PRISM) lab.
  • Assist in developing curriculum and training courses on cybersecurity (and related topics) including, Secure VLSI design, Embedded System, Cloud Security, and Machine Learning.
  • Plan, organizes, conducts and monitors project protocols.
  • Assist or write proposals, enabling innovative research projects with Drs. Satam and Salehi.
  • Development of independent research.
  • Mentor students in the Systems and Security Lab (S&S) and Privacy-Preserving, Intelligent, and Secure Computing (PRISM) labs.
  • Preparation and delivery of research presentations at internal and local meetings as well as national and international conferences.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have knowledge of VHDL, VerilogHDL, SystemVerilog, Xilinx (ISE, Vivado, Vivado HLS, SDK), Intel FPGA (Modelsim), Synopsys (Design Compiler, DFT compiler, HSIM, HSPICE), Cadence (SoC/IC Encounter), CodeVisionAVR, Altium Designer (PCB), MaxPlus, Tanner Tools Pro (L-edit).
  • Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to conduct independent research, data management, analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.

 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering or related field. The selected candidate must have a conferred Ph.D. upon hire.  

 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year research experience in Cybersecurity, Distributed Computing, Machine Learning.
  • Writing experience for publication of articles in scientific research journals.
