Description:

Position Summary
A) To build a research program and secure external funds in the area of regenerative medicine/dentistry and other applicable research areas within the College's research themes. B) To support the research enterprise of the College of Dentistry by developing expertise and managing high-end equipment such as the micro-tomography. C) To develop and teach graduate level courses in Oral Biology for MS, PhD programs as well as residents.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Duties and Responsibilities for Research and Service
  • 1. Develop and maintain a funded, independent research program
  • 2. Collaborate with faculty to develop interdisciplinary research
  • 3. Prolific Grant writing and research publication
  • 4. Participate in teaching; advise and direct undergraduate and graduate students
  • 5. Participate in collegiate faculty meetings as well as departmental staff meetings, and other divisional meetings and departmental conferences on a regular basis,
  • 6. Participate in continuing education programs in the College and at other locations as deemed appropriate.
  • 7. Participate in departmental and college committees
  • 8. Participate in public service activities.
  • 9. Manage the microtomography instrument housed in the College of Dentistry. This would include overseeing maintenance, training, instrument calibration, scheduling, billing (as needed), management of generated data and storage (cooperating with IT). Assist users with data collection and analysis to ensure users maximize the utility of the instrument, including training new users and assist untrained users with imaging service.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree or equivalent.
  • Postdoctoral training and excellent record of research publication.
  • Experience in conducting research in the areas of regenerative medicine/dentistry
  • History of academic accomplishments, including history of grand funding.
  • Strong willingness to collaborate with faculty of other academic departments
  • Academic/scientific experience in research mentoring
  •  

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to mentor students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Currently hold NIH grant
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in fostering collaborative research between a dental school and outside entities.
