Summary of Duties: One-year appointment begins August 2024, with the possibility of renewal for one academic year based on positive performance. A full-time (100%) appointment entails teaching one course per semester and assisting with the administration of the newly-created Center for the Study of Germanic Cultures and the Environment, including helping to organize its spring conference and editing the proceedings. The postdoctoral associate will also be assigned a departmental mentor. 

 

Required qualifications: Ph.D. in German or Scandinavian or related field by start date; native or near-native fluency in German or a Scandinavian Language; record of excellence in research and teaching; willingness and ability to teach either in-person or online, as needed; ability to work collegially and effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds as well as foster an inclusive classroom and working environment. Prior experience organizing a conference and editing skills a plus.

·         a research sample (no more than 30 pages)

The search committee will solicit letters of recommendation only for applicants selected for preliminary interviews, which will take place via Zoom. Review of these materials will begin on November 15, 2023, and will continue until the position is filled.
