JOB STATUS: Tenure-track faculty line, full-time

PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The Brennan School of Business’s 2022-2028 strategic plan envisions to equip Brennan graduates with the skills necessary to address significant business challenges and gain recognition for their leadership abilities, entrepreneurial mindset, and global perspective. As part of this vision, a tenure-track faculty position specializing in entrepreneurship will enhance the entrepreneurial curriculum, teach the standard seven course load, provide guidance via advising students, and engage in scholarly activities. Given the pivotal role entrepreneurship plays within the strategic plan, a new entrepreneurship faculty member will collaborate closely with the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, and fellow colleagues at the Brennan School of Business on various initiatives, including the following:
  • Develop curriculum innovation within the entrepreneurship major and minor to support DEIB/sustainability initiatives and experiential learning
  • Support entrepreneurship through participation in external events (competitions, conferences) as well as internal events.
  • Support the creation of an Entrepreneurship Center (and its website) that emphasize sustainability and underserved entrepreneurs
  • Support the development of strategic partnerships that advance the entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Organize the freshmen Brennan Business Idea Competition (MGMT 197) and sophomore Brennan Business Challenge Competition (ENTR 297) with departmental colleagues
  • Support the Entrepreneurs LaunchPad Fund Competition (juniors, seniors, recent alumni) with the Department Chair, Entrepreneurship/Management Executive in Residents.

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Principal duties and responsibilities would include the following:
  • Teach 21 credit hours within entrepreneurship/management, which corresponds to seven courses during an academic year.
  • Advise undergraduate students and transfer students.
  • Produce intellectual contributions as outlined in the BSB Roles and Responsibility Document in order to maintain scholarly academic “SA” status for AACSB Accreditation.
  • Participate in AACSB Assurance of Learning (AOL) activities and deliver timely reports to the Dean, Associate Dean, and Department Chair
  • Organize entrepreneurial competitions with departmental colleagues (Business Idea Competition, Business Challenge Competition, Entrepreneurs LaunchPad Fund).
  • Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
 
PhD in Entrepreneurship/Management from an AACSB accredited institution is required. Teaching experience is required. Highly qualified ABD candidates will also be considered. A candidate must be committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous teaching experience at HSIs or minority serving institutions
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing active or experiential learning opportunities and programs for diverse student populations is also preferred.
