Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, (MICROBIOLOGY WITH ELECTROACTIVE MICROBES), Chemical Engineering (ChemE), to join a multidisciplinary group working to engineer electroactive microbes as environmental sensors. The research team specializes in microbial metabolic engineering, technology development, and evaluating technology. Job responsibilities will include maintaining bacterial cultures and lab equipment, developing a genetic recording system using molecular tools and techniques, and integrating engineered microbes into electrical devices. Research will focus on electroactive microbes, but there will be opportunities to work on multiple projects and subjects.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  B.S. in environmental engineering or related science field; at least two years’ specialized lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); ability to independently execute, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments; excellent organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills; self-motivation; ability to multitask, work with others, and maintain confidentiality; PREFERRED:  experience with microbial culturing, molecular biological techniques, and electrochemistry.  Job #23289

Given the nature of the research, some night and weekend work may be needed.

This is a one-year position with the possibility of extension.
