The Board of Directors of Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative is seeking a qualified and engaged leader to succeed the current President and CEO who will retire in January 2021. Claverack has retained NRECA Executive Search to facilitate the search process.
Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative that provides reliable and affordable electricity and related energy services to over 18,000 residential, commercial, business and farm members throughout a 2250 square mile area of northeastern Pennsylvania that includes eight counties. The Cooperative is headquartered at 32750 Route 6, Wysox, PA 18854. Claverack receives its wholesale power supply from Allegheny Electric Cooperative, Inc. delivered to twenty substations and on to the retail members through 2700 miles of lines and poles. It has an annual revenue of $32 million, a plant value of $63 million, and has experienced some recent growth from the shale gas industry.
Claverack is the co-owner of C&T Enterprises, Inc., a for profit holding company who is the owner of three regulated electric and natural gas utilities in the norther tier of Pennsylvania. C&T Enterprises also provides management and related services to Claverack and its other affiliated companies.

Successful candidates will be dynamic and forward thinking, strategically focused, able to develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with stakeholders, must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and must exhibit a leadership style reflecting integrity, flexibility and respect.
Candidates are required to have a minimum of 5-10 years of utility experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience at the senior level. The most competitive candidates will possess a strong understanding of finance, organizational management, utility operations and engineering customer service, business development and governmental relations. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, electrical engineering, accounting and finance, or related degree is required.
Additionally, candidates must have demonstrated knowledge in areas such as electric operations and safety, strategic planning, team building, and customer communications. Knowledge and experience in the areas of telecommunications, power supply, renewable energy is also desired, and an understanding and appreciation of the cooperative principles is a plus.
Claverack’s headquarters is in the heart of the scenic endless mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania.
