Position Title: Freelance Fundraising Consultant (30 hours per week) Location: Astoria, Queens Reports To: VP of Development Cost Center: 62600 General Purpose: The Freelance Fundraising Consultant will have multiple responsibilities within the Annual Development Plan, working with the VP of Development. The position will focus on: 1) overseeing the Annual Fund and all Donor Communications; 2) managing the in-store “Round Up” program, 3) handling the department’s daily operations, including gift processing and acknowledgement, financial reconciliation and KPI tracking, and purchasing and accounts payable; 4) playing a supportive role for annual Goodwill Honors and Goodwill Extended events; 5) Building and Managing the Board of Ambassadors (Jr. Board) and overseeing their Ugly Sweater Party; and 6) growing the Corporate Volunteers program. The position will require a self-motivated, communications-savvy, data-driven individual who will be confident both in a project management role and working both independently and collaboratively. Manage the Annual Fund Working with the VP of Development, a direct mail consultant and the marketing team, oversee the Annual Fund which includes:
Coordinating the Year-End Appeal to donors; the Four acquisitions mailings to prospects; the Four online solicitations; Giving Tuesday; the Board Connectors Appeal
Execute monthly stewardship plan to mid- and major-donors
Manage Round UP:
Help manage Special Events and Volunteer Opportunities
Work with the VP of Development to execute the fundraising and logistics related to the virtual Goodwill Honors “Gala”; the Goodwill Extended event, and The Ugly Sweater Party.
Handle Development Operations:
Monthly reconciliation and KPIs:
Gift processing and acknowledgement:
Manage gift processing in The Raiser’s Edge NXT donor database, including ongoing cleaning of donor database and mailing lists
Ensure a segmented process is maintained for major donor, bequest, corporate, foundation, and event sponsorship acknowledgements, and process with a quick turnaround
Draft new acknowledgement letter language for new appeals
Additional Operations duties:
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Math, English, Writing, Journalism, Communications, Media Relations, or related subject; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in special events, annual fund, direct mail, online giving, individual giving, and development operations.
Knowledge of: Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, The Raiser’s Edge NXT (preferred) or other CRM/donor database system.
Excellent written, math, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrable organizational, professional, problem solving, customer service, administrative skills, and ability to work effectively on inter-agency projects.
Ability to achieve outcomes with minimal supervision and as part of a multi-cultural team.
Enthusiasm for the mission of Goodwill, and sensitivity to working with individuals of multiple abilities
