Primary Duties
  • Coordinates prior learning credit and appropriate documentation materials, providing referrals to specific departments, schools, or employers as appropriate. Reviews academic records for all student types and proactively suggests completion criteria for eligible workforce credentials.
  • Utilizes Workday and other college-provided platforms to manage data efficiently and transparently.
  • Serves as point of contact for all Prior Learning Credit requests, memos, emails, documentation, conversion, and matriculation for student and the division.
  • Meets monthly with leadership and/or team members in Accelerated Skills Training in Workforce Development, as well as Construction, Trails, Trades, and Bicycle Technician.
  • Evaluates transcripts, course descriptions, degree plans, and related materials to aid in course acceptance substitution issues. Submits course substitution requests for students.
  • Provides developmental advising for new and continuing students.
  • Assists with student orientation in coordination with Student Services, Distance Learning and Enrollment Support.
  • Advises students on programs and course selection by setting up and maintaining student appointments.

    • Provide advising at both NWACC – Bentonville and NWACC – Washington County by traveling to Washington County once a month.
  • Develops and maintains degree audits in coordination with the division deans, department chairs and coordinators, and Distance Learning.
  • Archives reports, files, and notes using preferred institutional systems.
  • Coordinate with program or academic advisors for student notifications for class cancellations and re-registration.
  • Conducts advising visits in person or alternative methods (i.e., phone or alternative technology).
  • Manages confidential information with tact, discretion, and in compliance with FERPA regulations.
  • Exhibits excellent digital and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Resolve Workday/Registration issues.

  • Minimum Financial Aid Advising.
  • Leads and/or attends community outreach events, such as division-sponsored events, recruitment fairs, and advisor board meetings. Examples include:
    • High School Events/Visits.
    • Job Fairs.
    • Recruitment materials and giveaways.
  • Retention
    • Identify and contact students not on degree plan.
    • Identify students enrolled in the previous/current semester, but not enrolled for upcoming semester.
  • Maintains a positive, professional work atmosphere by acting and communicating to foster teamwork.
  • Help develop and update online resources, communication, and overall web presence for program areas supported.
  • Maintain contact with other colleges and universities.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with NWACC Referral Offices, and counselors at high schools in the NWA region and beyond.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
  • Respond to other duties as assigned by the AVP of Workforce or designee.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
 
Other Duties may include:
  • Internship communications with career services and industry liaison.
  • Collaborating with Transfer Services on 2+2 agreements.
  • Works with the Division Dean and Program Directors to perform and evaluate quarterly degree audits to contribute to scorecard metrics in leading indicators for program recruitment, persistence, retention, and completion each academic year.
 
Salary $44,000 Annually
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices;(FERPA, Title VII, Title IX, ADA) or other applicable laws pertaining to education and employment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Ability to participate as a team member,
  • Ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations and ability to adjust to change.
  • Ability to handle confidential material judiciously; understanding of education programs and tools related to community colleges.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to prioritize work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and computing skills are necessary.
  • Understanding of the college’s Human Resources and Student Services processes in addition to Academics.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related college software and email, required.
  • Experience with the facilitation of group planning efforts and facilitation strategies is desirable.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (or earning Bachelor’s degree within six months) with two years of related experience and/or training.
