Position Highlights

The James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences is seeking candidates to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The successful candidate will develop and utilize advanced laser systems applied towards broadband precision spectroscopy from the UV to MIR. This will involve work with fs frequency comb laser systems as well as quantum cascade laser systems. Applicant will work within a research group, leading independent research as well as assisting and providing support for graduate students.

Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or have another protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to be ITAR/EAR compliant

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead experiments, data acquisition, analysis, and publication of papers related to spectroscopic studies of laser produced plasmas and non-equilibrium chemical dynamics.
  • Assist in managing daily laboratory operations and mentoring of graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Physics or Engineering, experience with dual frequency comb spectroscopy,
  • At least one year experience in industry research.
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in laser spectroscopy, development of frequency combs using Er fiber lasers, analysis and simulation of atomic and molecular spectra.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in developing dual-frequency comb systems and quantitative analysis of atomic and molecular spectra is preferred.
