The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s (“AGF”) mission is to make young voices and votes a powerful force in our democracy. The Chief Financial Officer will work closely with the Executive Director and our Department Directors; Programs, Communications, and Development. The function of this role is to advance and collaborate our mission by overseeing all department's financial needs. Below is an outline of the responsibilities and expectations for this role.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director (“ED”), the Chief Financial Officer-Chief Operation Officer (CFO-COO) is responsible for all aspects of the operations for The Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF).

Reporting directly to the Executive Director (“ED”), the Chief Financial Officer-Chief Operation Officer (CFO-COO) is responsible for all aspects of the operations for The Andrew Goodman Foundation (AGF).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all operations daily and ensure that all business operations are smooth and efficient;

  • Establish productive working relationships between and among the Senior Leadership Team, ED, and the staff to ensure that AGF operates profitably and productively;

  • Actively manage the day to day accounting and financial operations of AGF and provide oversight for AGF's budget, development, and external relations activities;

  • Identify and implement cost-effective ways to deliver state-of-the-art programs to Student Ambassadors;

  • Develop budgets for AGF as a whole, individual programs and new/proposed/expanded services, including the preparation of budget revisions as needed;

  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly financial reports for AGF, its programs, and activities;

  • Work collaboratively with the Board, to ensure that Board goals filter into day-to-day management;

  • Report regularly on financial and organizational matters, including relevant staffing, funding and program success and priorities to the President, ED, and Board of Directors;

  • Oversee and review the preparation of all program financial reporting required for funding sources;

  • Manage the Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payables, and Payroll functions/staffs and the integration of billing information from the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system into the accounting system;

  • Oversee AGF’s banking activities and actively manage cash flow to ensure it meets AGF’s needs;

  • Manage the negotiation and execution of AGF contracts with funding sources, vendors and collaborative service providers;

  • Manage accounting control systems ensuring the accurate and timely production of accounting information and financial reports;

  • Monitor changes in legal, regulatory and administrative environments and implement changes in procedures and needed to maintain compliance while maximizing operational and financial results;

  • Manage AGF’s liability insurance program, including ongoing risk analysis;

  • Manage the Human Resource activities, including outside consultants and HR pro bono lawyers; review efficiency/effectiveness of employee benefit programs such as the retirement plan, seeking approaches to lower costs where possible and consistent with required quality levels; and

  • Serve as AGF’s primary liaison with its independent Auditor to ensure the annual audit is completed smoothly and in a timely manner.

Special Demands:

  • Occasionally available on evenings and weekends.


  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Five years of senior management experience in an organization with operations in excess of $5 million per year, preferably with a non-profit entity.

  • Certified Public Accountant designation a plus.

  • Must be highly ethical with a high level of integrity; self-motivated; dependable and reliable; detailed oriented.

  • Must be able to interface easily with staff, other senior and executive management personnel, and funding sources.

  • Knowledge Of:

    • General accounting and financial reporting procedures in accordance with the GAAP.

    • Contract/grant budgeting/reporting procedures and requirements.

    • Human Resources regulations and practices.

    • Payroll reporting and processing of payroll taxes.

    • Employee benefits, including the management of health care and retirement plans.

    • General office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting software packages.

  • Ability To:

    • Create, analyze, and report on financial statements and budgets.

    • Supervise staff, develop job descriptions and provide performance evaluations and improvement plans.

    • Analyze and solve problems effectively and efficiently.

    • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

    • Work well with, and be responsive to the needs of, internal and external stakeholders.

    • Manage priorities effectively to meet deadlines and demonstrate multitasking skills.

    • Assimilate new information and technology.

    • Foster and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships.
