Position Summary
The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) seeks to fill one tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with a research program in an area of mammalian reproductive physiology/endocrinology that complements existing programs within the department and university. Most reproductive physiology faculty members participate in research on large animals at the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory (ARBL; https://vetmedbiosci.colostate.edu/arbl/ ). Current research strengths at ARBL exist in early embryo development, neuroendocrinology, and pregnancy progression and outcomes, with an emphasis placed on relevant livestock and/or human health and disease. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a robust, independent, extramurally funded research program. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in multiple basic science and engineering departments across campus including those associated with the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Ongoing collaborations also exist with faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Core facilities available include a light and electron microscopy imaging network (https://www.research.colostate.edu/min/ ) and the University’s Proteomics and Metabolomics Facility (https://www.research.colostate.edu/bio/ ).
In addition, the person hired into this position will be expected to participate in the departmental teaching mission, by contributing to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional (DVM, MD) teaching. Effective mentoring and advising of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are also expected. BMS faculty engage in extensive service and outreach activities which the successful candidate could contribute to depending on interests. This is a 9-month appointment with a primary academic appointment in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
