The new College of Health (CH) at Idaho State University, a diverse interprofessional collaboration comprised of nearly 300 faculty/staff and 2,000 students representing 20 different programs/departments, is the state and national leader in the education of health professionals. The Dean is an academic, operational, and financial leader responsible for the continuation and enhancement of the CH’s tradition of innovation in education, excellence in clinical care and service, and outstanding scholarship. The Dean will demonstrate an understanding of each CH discipline and the unique dynamics and nuances of each program. The successful candidate will provide collaborative leadership to engage in day-to-day management of and relationship building with faculty, staff and students. The Dean will also facilitate communication between CH programs and all levels of university administration and advocate, both internally and externally, for CH students, programs and faculty. The Dean creates a positive, collaborative, and inclusive working and learning environment.
● Oversee and improve CH administration and College operations through the day-to-day management of CH faculty, staff, and students including supervising, advising, and assisting in problem-solving; facilitating strategic and facilities planning; ensuring a robust research profile; collaborating with all levels of administrators and campus units; and promoting faculty development in teaching, scholarship, and service.
● Engage with community organizations, business and industry, civic and government, schools and colleges, and educational leaders;
● Ensure financial stability including strategic budget oversight, securing philanthropic donations, fostering partnerships, and facilitating external funding opportunities;
● Maintain an understanding and ensure accreditation and professional standards across diverse disciplines represented in the CH.
Earned doctorate. Minimum of five years leadership experience in an academic setting. Academic experience sufficient for the appointment as a full Professor in the College of Health. Record of sustained scholarship. Experience with financial planning and budgetary oversight, successful track record developing and implementing strategic plans, outstanding delegation skills, creative problem-solving skills, and collaborative management style. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Experience with interdisciplinary program and external facility collaboration. Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience with the following: fundraising and alumni relations, management of branch campuses, interprofessional education, new program development, growth of external funding initiatives, and accreditation standards for multiple disciplines.
