Posting Summary
 Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Communications Specialist III for the Office of Marketing & Communications within Rutgers, School of Public Health. 
The Rutgers School of Public Health Office of Marketing and Communications exists to uphold and advance the mission, vision, and values of the school through increasing visibility, awareness, and reputation by highlighting students, faculty, alumni, programs, and research to New Jersey, national, and international audiences. The Office provides marketing, communications, and planning services, resources, and training to various units within the school. Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Specialist II will be responsible for assisting with the execution of the school’s communication and engagement strategy and developing written content for distribution. They will also be responsible for leading the school’s monthly newsletter and webinar series.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Develops and implements the school’s monthly newsletter.
  • Provides vision and implements school’s monthly seminar series.
  • Assists with School of Public Health communication efforts including communications within the School, throughout Rutgers University, and to various external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates external communications efforts with the Rutgers University-wide offices and units.
  • Develops clear and accessible language for messaging through Op-Eds, articles, research/policy briefs, blog posts, etc.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the school’s website.
  • Writes and edits social media content.
  • Creates innovative visual and audio content for digital distribution as assigned.
  • Promotes SPH faculty, student, and staff publications to secure placements among top-tier print and electronic outlets.
  • Monitors news outlets to identify and capitalize upon media and advocacy opportunities.
  • Assists the Director of Marketing and Communication with tracking all media coverage and identifying promotional opportunities.
  • Assists with the creation of annual reports or special edition reports, policies, trainings, and plans.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Public Health or a related field
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements
  • Two (2) years of related experience 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organization, planning, project management, and problem solving skills.
  • Must have professional writing experience, familiarity with audio/video production, a solid knowledge of the current social media landscape (twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) and WordPress training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and understanding of website management and publishing, social media management and digital marketing reporting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at an institution of higher education or a research center
  • Knowledge of topics related to public health

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
