Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Director of Finances, the incumbent will provide support to faculty in pre-award, proposal development phases. Duties to include: budget development, working with PI’s to prepare routing documents and electronic submissions of proposal to sponsor(s). Interface with PI and ORA on proposal submission and compliance. Monthly reconciliation, collect/analyze data for reporting to PI’s.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Experience with coordinating detailed sponsor reporting, proposal preparation and routing, and subcontract coordination.
  • A minimum of two years of progressive responsibility in research administration or a combination of budgeting and proposal development, preferably in an academic environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Uniformed Guidance and Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Knowledge regarding how to prepare grant applications. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Focus on customer service.
  • The ability to effectively work with university faculty, staff, administrators, and other campus officials.

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and procedures of UMCP.
  • Familiarity with BA4/Priority and Kuali Research software systems.
  • Familiarity with State and University procedures, and with sponsored research sponsor(s) and Knowledge of and experience with, governmental/higher education general accounting, procurement and travel rules and regulations.
  • CONCUR & KFS experience is a plus.

Additional Information:

The initial appointment will be for 6 months with possibility of extension. After initial training position will be 100% remote.
