The department of the Miami Project has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Post Doctoral Associate to work at UHealth. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

• Conduct human neuro / biomechanics research focused on kinematic, kinetic and electromyographic (EMG) data to assess human motor function.

• Analyze kinematic data, including displacement / orientation of body segments, joint angles, and spatiotemporal parameters; kinetic data, including ground reaction forces, joint mechanical moments and powers, and kinetic and potential energy; and EMG data, including muscle activation patterns and neuromuscular coordination.

• Configure and maintain state-of-the-art equipment of a motion analysis laboratory, including an optical motion capture system, wearable inertial motion sensors, forceplates, wireless multichannel EMG, and other relevant instruments for human neuro / biomechanics research.

• Prepare equipment to ensure safe operation and maintain supplies of items for research experiments.

• Teach new lab members how to operate motion analysis laboratory equipment and analyze data.

• Develop protocols and prepare procedure manuals for human neuro / biomechanics research.

• Contribute to a research program and support clinical interventions aimed at developing and testing neuromodulation approaches for brain and spinal cord injury neuromotor recovery.

• Combine human neuro / biomechanics research with neuromodulation approach using brain-computer interface (BCI), functional electrical stimulation (FES), spinal cord stimulation (SCS), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to advance neuromotor recovery.

• Perform neuro / biomechanics assessments to understand neuroplasticity and neuromotor recovery after brain and spinal cord injury.

• Work with the Principal Investigator and other researcher team members to propose solutions for addressing research questions using state-of-the-art scientific technologies and approaches.

• Coordinate and manage multiple studies by collaborating with the other laboratory team members.

• Help with scheduling research participant visits and coordinate recruitment with the research team.

• Assists with preparing and processing regulatory documents and writing grant reports.

• Maintain accurate documentation and records of data collected in accordance with the guidelines.

• Prepare research reports for publication in refereed journals.

• Contribute to presenting results, writing, and editing materials for publication.

• Organize data from different experiments, analyze, interpret, and synthesize results using state-of-the-art scientific and statistical methods, and propose conclusions and follow-up investigations.

• Present research findings in laboratory and department meetings and contribute to discussion.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MD in relevant field.

• No experience required.

• Experience in human neuro / biomechanics research preferred.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
