The Mathematics Department at Castleton University seeks applications for a one-year, full-time faculty position with a preferred start date of August 2020, with a possibility of extending to a long-term, tenure-track position next year. Candidates for this position should be able to teach a broad scope of courses to both non-majors and majors such as our pre-service teachers, mathematics majors and statistics majors. Courses taught may include Precalculus, Calculus I-III, Teachers as Researchers, Differential Equations, Advanced Calculus, and Senior Seminar, and may be taught in person, online, or as a hybrid between the two. Castleton boasts a diverse student body which includes many first-generation students and a growing international student population.
Candidates for this position should have completed or anticipate the completion of a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Mathematics Education. Experience with online teaching is beneficial but not required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues are also essential criteria. Castleton places a special value on the teaching roles of its faculty, and candidates for this position will be evaluated on the basis of their potential to be outstanding teachers and colleagues, as well as on their academic qualifications.
