Galveston College is a comprehensive community college located on Galveston Island, just 40 miles south of Houston, Texas. Our College provides the citizens of Galveston Island and the surrounding region with academic, workforce development, continuing education, and community service programs. We serve an ethnically diverse population of approximately 2,400 students each semester in credit programs and nearly 5,000 individuals annually in continuing education programs. Job Highlights
 


The Leadership Camp Instructor is responsible for providing a safe, non-threatening environment conducive to helping students learn social skills and develop leadership for middle and high school students. The instructor is expected to assist students with various leadership training and projects. The curriculum will be provided.

 

  • We have two positions available through a grant-funded after-school program.

 


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or working on completion) in teaching, early childhood education, psychology, or a similar field.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience in assisting students with various leadership training and projects.
  • Experience in working with youth and classroom management skills.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills are a must-have.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Customer-friendly attitude with the public, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred can be completed at the college.
  • Effective organizational and planning skills.
