CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Overview
Established in 1822, Friends Association has served vulnerable populations in Chester County for more than 200 years.
Today its mission is to support families in Chester County who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of homelessness.
Through several specific programs, Friends staff work with families to empower them as they build on existing strengths and skills, and work together to build resiliency, stable housing, and financial independence.

The CEO

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership, working in partnership with the board and staff in developing strategic priorities, goals and objectives.
  • Ensures the effective and efficient implementation of strategic initiatives and delivery of programs and services.
  • Provides leadership to, and works in partnership with, members of the Board and staff to ensure strong philanthropic support of the organization.
  • Works closely with the staff team to build a culture of shared purpose, trust and mutual accountability.
  • Represents the organization and its mission to various and multiple constituencies including: community members, government agencies, donors, business leaders, and partners.

Qualifications

  • Experience in working with diverse and/or vulnerable populations
  • Prior experience in leading an organization or a large division/department
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in strategic analysis and planning
  • Experience in providing leadership through a period of organizational change
  • Experience in working with or for a nonprofit board of directors
  • Experience in managing HR policies and procedures and developing staff and employee teams
  • Experience in managing multiple revenue streams and restricted funds, including publicly-funded grants and contracts
  • Experience in generating philanthropic revenues, particularly in major donor development and managing development staff
  • An engaging personality with experience building relationships, i.e., comfortable meeting new people, networking, speaking in front of groups
  • Skills in collaborative decision-making; demonstrates high emotional intelligence
  • An appreciation for the distinctive aspects of the Chester County service landscape
  • Education and experience that demonstrates competent leadership and management skills

Optimal

  • Experience in services for people who are homeless or formerly homeless
  • Experience in trauma-informed services and programs
  • Experience in public policy, advocacy, contract negotiations
  • Experience working in Chester County

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year

  • West Chester, PA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
