The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides dynamic leadership to Food Bank of Alaska (FBA), under the guidance of the Board of Directors.

Primary Responsibilities
Mission, Vision, and Strategy
The CEO is tasked with ensuring that FBA’s activities are directed toward accomplishing the mission, vision, and strategic direction. Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Board of Directors, develop and progress annual and long-term strategic goals.
  • Participating actively at the national level with Feeding America and other food banks to bring best practices and innovative food bank projects to Alaska.
  • Strategic involvement with external stakeholders that advance the FBA mission.

Financial Management & Compliance
The CEO is responsible for the financial stability of FBA. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the finance department and ensure financial statements and audits are timely.
  • Responsible for a multi-million-dollar Operating Budget.
  • Project future capital needs.
  • Meet with the Board Finance Committee as scheduled.
  • Complying with Feeding America requirements including coordination of biannual visits.

Daily Operations & Program Development & Evaluation

  • Creating a positive, collaborative and ethical working environment that rewards hard work and superior achievement to meet FBA’s strategic goals.
  • Overseeing operations and ongoing evaluation of existing FBA programs to promote continuing improvement in the areas of operations, logistics and agency relations.
  • Develops and implements new projects to meet ongoing needs of FBA stakeholder groups.

Fund Development

  • The CEO is responsible for leadership and oversight of all fundraising activities, including working with development staff, assisting in identifying and securing new funding, and building and enhancing relationships with current and potential donors and foundations.

Public Relations, Communications, & Advocacy
The CEO serves as the primary ‘face’ and ambassador for FBA. Responsibilities include:

  • Communicates the vision, mission and goals of FBA.
  • Promotes FBA mission with community partners, government agencies, universities, and other key constituents across Alaska.

Staff/Human Resource Management
The CEO fosters an open and inclusive work environment where staff feel motivated to share ideas to move FBA toward vision and goals in alignment with FBA policies & procedures.

Other Responsibilities as Assigned by the Board of Directors of FBA.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred. College degree or equivalent professional experience. 5 years’ experience of top-level management.
  • Strong leadership ability, sound judgment, and high professional ethics.
  • Knowledge of the social services system and special commitment to the organizational mission to end hunger.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing coalitions and inter-agency collaborations.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with volunteer boards and committees.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including public presentations and media appearances.
  • Demonstrated fund-raising experience.
  • Demonstrated abilities in budget development and fiscal management.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
