Position Summary

Plans, directs, leads and oversees the administration of the newly developed program focused on science, education and training. The following are some of the programs housed within the Science Education and Training Program: the SEPA Program, GO STEM! Club, Saturday Science Days, DNA-focused GATE classes, and the K-12 portion of the Hilton Grant. Provides leadership and direction for day-to-day operations of all programs within the Science Education and Training Program. Contributes to the strategic planning and leads the design, development and implementation of program objectives, procedures, processes and standards.

Key Responsibilities include:

Administration

• Oversees day-to-day activities related to all programs housed under the Science Education Training Program
• Attends, as required, meetings for foundation grants, education councils, community outreach events
• Handles on-boarding of all students participating in outreach programs
• Supervises program coordinators and outreach specialists
• Creates and maintains student records for educational programs and interfaces with the external program evaluators in utilizing these records
• Coordinates with business manager on grant administration: tracking and reporting time and effort; processing of stipends; honoraria; reimbursements; other grant expenditures; tracking and oversight of grant budget

Strategic Planning

• Plays a major role in program development
• Plays a major role in development of community partnerships
• Establishes and maintains relationships with Superintendents in the Foothill Consortium, including Bonita, Charter Oak, Claremont, Glendora and West Covina, as well as in the following districts: Azusa, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte
• Maintains partnerships and aids in implementation of national programming, including programs in Seattle, New Orleans, New Mexico, and international programming, including programs in Australia
• Tracks and reports on progress of various programs

Dissemination of Information

• Attends and presents at local, national and international conferences
• Produces reports for community benefit and CCSG
• Provides impact data for COH CCC and each participating school district (locally and nationally)
• Presents work for local and state/national elected officials
• Attends and represents COH at various event s
• Provides marketing and community outreach data through print, web and mobile mediums

Required education, experience and skills:

• Doctorate Degree in the STEM field, Science Education or Master’s Degree with 4 years of experience in science educational programs and curriculum development.
• Should have experience in developing science educational programs for the

K-12 grade level.

• Experience as a program coordinator for a science education program.

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
