Postdoctoral Positions in Cosmology, University of Pennsylvania
The Center for Particle Cosmology at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for postdoctoral positions to begin in September 2024.
Applications are invited for one or more postdoctoral fellowships in data-oriented cosmology and adjacent fields. The successful candidates will be free to work on topics of their choice, but may have a research focus on: analyzing data from cosmological surveys, parameter inference, empirical topics related to cosmology such as galaxy formation or gravitational waves, and/or developing simulation tools to help interpret current and upcoming measurements. The Center is looking to grow its vibrant and diverse group of students and postdocs with a postdoctoral fellow who will be encouraged to collaborate with a broad range of Penn researchers. The astrophysics faculty in the Center with data-oriented interests are James Aguirre, Cullen Blake, Mariangela Bernardi, Gary Bernstein, Mark Devlin, Bhuvnesh Jain, Adam Lidz, Mathew Madhavacheril, Robyn Sanderson, Masao Sako, and Ravi Sheth. We are active participants in a number of leading projects including: ACT, BLAST, DES, DESI, Euclid, HERA, MINERVA, Mustang, NEID, Roman, Rubin Observatory, SDSS, Simons Observatory, and TIM, and benefit from close interactions with our colleagues in theoretical particle cosmology (Jonathan Heckman, Justin Khoury, and Mark Trodden). The initial appointment is for two years, renewable for up to three years, and offers competitive salary, benefits, and a research allowance.
