JOB SUMMARY:
This is a Research position in Pediatrics at University of South Florida Morsani School of Medicine in the laboratory of Dr. Thao (Tina) Ho. Dr. Ho’s research focuses on understanding the gut microbiota, both ecology composition and function, in relation to anemia and iron absorption and metabolism in preterm infants. To investigate these complex relationships in this vulnerable population, we have applied several approaches: multiomics analysis, cell tissue models including enteroids/organoids, observational and interventional clinical studies. We are looking for a motivated candidate who is passionate about the same field of research. Candidates with experience in cell tissue cultures, DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, ELISA, western blot, and immunofluorescence techniques are preferred.
DUTIES:
• Perform complex lab experiments in an independent manner using standard operation procedures
• Assist with technical writing and input on grant submission and on publications.
• Assist with mentoring and training of students and fellows
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or MD. Ph.D. in a related field from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.
Preferred Qualifications:
We are looking for a motivated candidate who is passionate about the same field of research. Other preferred qualifications are:
- Comfortable with advanced techniques in cell tissue cultures
- Competencies with basic biostatistics and bioinformatics methods and supporting software tools
- Excellent organizational, record keeping, communication and inter-personnel skills, and ability to work effectively in a team
