About HACIA:

Founded in 1979 as a non-profit 501 (c) (6) organization, the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) is a construction advocacy, training and membership organization focused on ensuring equitable participation of diverse businesses in the construction industry.  With over 350 members, HACIA hosts various networking events and provides a range of technical and supportive services to assist minority, women, veterans and disadvantaged business enterprises (M/W/V/DBE) in addition to workforce development training in the construction and professional services industries. HACIA believes that all qualified construction businesses and individuals should have equal access to opportunities and education; and, therein, strives to build diversity and inclusion that strengthens the industry. HACIA’s mission is to advocate for its members, build their capacity, and facilitate access to a broad network of diverse professionals and industry leaders.

Position Summary: The Membership Manager plays a vital role within HACIA, responsible for overseeing and growing our membership base. The Membership Manager will work closely with the Director of Partnership and Membership Engagement, Executive Director and other team members to develop and implement strategies for acquiring, retaining, and engaging members. This role requires a passion for our mission, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven track record in membership development within the nonprofit and construction sector.

Membership Growth:

  • Develop and execute strategies to attract and acquire new members, including individuals, organizations, and sponsors.
  • Analyze market trends and conduct research to identify potential target audiences and opportunities for growth.

Member Engagement:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with current and prospective members to ensure their active participation and support.
  • Plan and coordinate member events, meetings, and initiatives to enhance engagement and strengthen the sense of community within our organization.

Retention and Renewal:

  • Develop and implement strategies to retain existing members and increase member retention rates.
  • Manage the membership renewal process, ensuring timely and personalized communication with members.

Membership Communications:

  • Create and manage effective communication materials and campaigns to inform members about our programs, initiatives, legislative updates and impact.
  • Maintain the organization's membership database and ensure accurate and up-to-date member records.

Collaboration and Outreach:

  • Collaborate with other teams within the organization to align membership efforts with our overall mission and goals.
  • Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote membership benefits.

Reporting and Evaluation:

  • Track and report on key performance metrics related to membership growth, engagement, and retention.
  • Use data-driven insights to make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, or a related field. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in membership development or related roles within a nonprofit organization.

Language Ability: Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.​

Mathematical Ability: Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.​

Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.​

Computer and Related Equipment Skills:
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

Supervisory Responsibilities: ​This job has no supervisory responsibilities. ​

Work Environment: The job may require some overtime during busy periods, such as when launching a new campaign or event. The work is generally fast-paced and deadline-oriented, so the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively is essential. The job requires some travel in the Chicagoland area to attend events.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
