    Job Title
    Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology at UCLA

    Job Summary
    The UCLA Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is recruiting for an Assistant Adjunct Professor faculty position.

    We are seeking applicants with extensive expertise in cancer cell biology, biomarker development, cancer, and molecular imaging. The successful candidate is expected to pursue innovative research using molecular cancer biology approaches to: (1) define the mechanisms underlying cancer development and identify novel therapeutic strategies for late-stage diseases, (2) test the clinical relevance of basic biology discoveries, (3) develop biomarkers that can be used in clinical practice to improve the stratification of high-risk cancer, and (4) assist with the training of graduate student and postdoctoral researchers. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and should possess a strong track record of productive and impactful research in the areas of cancer biology, molecular biology, and oncology. The successful candidate must also show potential for collaborative research and have a demonstrated history of contributing to teaching and mentorship activities that are in line with the service missions of the Department and University.

    Responsibilities and Duties
    The candidate should have experience teaching, as they will teach required courses in the department as well as courses in their specialty area and will advise doctoral and masters’ students. The candidate will also manage active research projects. Additionally, the individual should:

    • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, publications, and presentations.
    • Mentor staff researchers on fundamental molecular biology techniques and establishing pre-clinical cancer models.
    • Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile data.
    • Assist in day-to-day laboratory activities.
    • Work with scientists and clinicians to research cancer response to therapy and apply new insights toward developing new anti-cancer treatments.
    • Support and lead projects.
    • Identify, establish and maintain collaborations with researchers at UCLA and abroad.
    • Teaching and training- providing lectures to graduate and undergraduate students in one or more areas, including but not limited to pharmacology, cancer biology, and cancer imaging.

    Qualification and Skills
    We seek a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, with at least four years of postdoctoral experience in cancer biology, biomarker development, therapeutics and developing pre-clinical cancer models. The candidate should be able to lead individual projects and also assist with collaborative projects. The candidate should have mastery of fundamental molecular biology techniques. The candidate should have the excellent interpersonal skills required to manage a team of scientists at all stages of training and should have experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate must have a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and experience contributing to large collaborative grants. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a highly collaborative, team-focused, and fast-paced environment and should have a track record of generating high-quality, reproducible results in a timely manner.
