Join us as a Staff Research Associate I, where you’ll support cutting-edge cancer research as a Laboratory Assistant, working closely with the Principal Investigator. Contribute to vital studies in tumor immunology & immunotherapy, focusing on sarcoma and melanoma, as well as exploring radiation’s impact on tumor immunity. Responsibilities encompass tissue cell culture, flow cytometry, PCR, and other molecular and cell biology techniques. Care for research animals and facilitate patient sample transport. Contribute to data preparation for publication and grant proposals, manage supplies and equipment, and ensure lab functionality. Additionally, oversee lab assistants and students, providing essential training to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows as needed. Salary: $25.75 – $30.71/hour
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
Required skills: * Demonstrated experience in cell biology, microbiology, and molecular biology. * Ability to prepare data for publication and grant applications * Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment malfunctions and arrange for service if needed * Ability to keep inventory of supplies and place orders as needed. * Demonstrated skill in RT-PCR’s, flow cytometry, and immunological and molecular biology assays. * Skill in sterile technique and of maintaining cells in tissue culture. * Basic molecular biological skills, e.g. Southern, Northern, Western and PCR, working with DNA, RNA, and proteins. * Skill in using micropipettors, microscopes, centrifuges, scintillation counter, CO2 incubators, waterbaths, spectrophotometer, pH meter, autoclaves, flow cytometer. * Knowledge of lab safety procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous waste. * Ability to operate a computer, and Microsoft Office programs. * Ability to establish and maintain accurate records. * Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate activities for the completion of a given project. * Ability to write technical material in scientific language. Skill in conducting literature search and retrievals, both through use of bioscience library and on-line service. * Ability to follow written and spoken instructions. * Ability to work independently. Preferred: * Bachelors degree in Biology or similar
