What we are looking for:

The Postdoctoral Research Associate within the Communication Sciences and Disorders department will work directly with Dr. Michaela Ritter, Associate Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Baylor University.  The person hired for this position will work on projects aimed at advancing assessment and intervention with children with oral and written language impairments, with a focus on dyslexia.  Responsibilities include project and team management, recruitment, data collection, data analysis, writing manuscripts, preparation of data for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and manuscript and grant preparation.

  • Anticipated start date: January 2024
  • The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two years pending a good annual performance review.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • PhD in CSD or a related field before January, 2024
  • Research and clinical experience and training  in Oral and Written Language Disorders, assessment, intervention
  • ·Established quantitative and qualitative research skills
  • ·Excellence in scientific written and oral communication skills

Preferred:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills,
  • Exceptional time management skills including the accurate estimate of timelines & adherence to deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) with names and contact information for three professional references, and
  • Research statement describing your research experience, interests, and goals.

What you will do: 

  • Provide assistance with the preparation of project-related reports, manuscripts and presentations
  • Conduct research design and oversee experiments
  • Develop and establish experimental procedures
  • Prepare and manage extensive databases
  • Develop and implement research quality control procedures
  • Analyze data and prepare reports; develop recommendations based on results
  • Verify the accuracy and validity of data
  • Work with highly technical and complex research instruments
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
