Position Highlights The Ryan Research Group in the College of Engineering seeks to hire a qualified and ambitious Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Dr. Alyssa Ryan on theoretical and applied research in the area of transportation safety, equity, and human factors. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible research-focused position. The ideal applicant would be an experienced researcher capable of writing grant proposals and conducting/leading projects in multiple research areas including, but not limited to, transportation safety, equity, and human factors. The candidate will work closely with researchers in the Center for Applied Transportation Sciences (CATS), as well as work with the driving simulator in the Ryan Research Group Laboratory.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct research, perform experiments, and analyze data with graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate research assistants.
  • Conduct outreach activities including, but not limited to, presenting research outcomes at local and national conferences.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and submit grant proposals/scope of work to acquire research funding.
  • Write peer-reviewed journal articles and reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Knowledge of recent advancements in transportation safety and equity.
  • Skill in conducting and applying practical research in the transportation field.
  • Ability to present research at national and international conferences.
  • Skill in leading research activities amongst groups of people.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Selected candidate must have Ph.D. conferred upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience working with driving simulators and eye-tracking glasses.
  • Data analysis experience, preferably in Python or R.
