The Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science, University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson, AZ invites applications for a postdoctoral position in clinical, translational, and laboratory glaucoma research. The postdoctoral position is available in the Ocular Biology lab at the University of Arizona College of Medicine directed by Dr. Brian S. McKay. Dr. McKay’s lab conducts basic research towards understanding age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal degeneration in general, and the molecular origins of glaucoma. These are the leading causes of blindness world-wide. Currently, the McKay lab is establishing a collaborative research group that includes diverse leaders in the field including Dr. Joao De Souza, Dr. Abhijit Date, Dr. John Paul SanGiovanni, and Dr. Jonathan M. The position requires a highly motivated candidate with an MD degree, experience in patient care, experience in clinical research, including ocular imaging, and extensive interest in the molecular and biophysical mechanisms in glaucoma. The applicant will work independently and as a part of our collaborative research team, creating a broad and methodologically diverse training opportunity. The candidate will regularly interact with the leaders of the research team and will have an opportunity to participate in translating bench science into clinical treatments. The postdoctoral position is expected to start on January 2, 2024. The evaluation of applications will begin immediately.
