Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening public education in Hillsborough County through advocacy, investment of resources, and programs that empower every student to achieve both academic and personal success. We are looking for an experienced Director of Communications to lead all efforts to create and establish consistent brand messaging that results in increased brand awareness and partnerships. This is a full-time exempt position with one direct report.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and implements a comprehensive communication plan that details strategies, tactics, outcomes and measurements to ensure consistency of brand and key messages in all printed media and digital communications, including newsletters, blogs, web content, marketing, program and other organizational materials to drive growth results in programs and fundraising.
  • Uses data analytics to shape communications strategies, track ROI and progress toward established annual marketing goals.
  • Creates stories both in print and video, blog articles and speeches for diverse stakeholder audiences.
  • Develops strategy and maintains communication channels and marketing pieces such as social media, web, print materials and electronic newsletters to effectively communicate initiatives.
  • Perform outreach and develop strategic relationships with media outlets including, managing inquiries, coordinating all media appearances, and routinely seeking out, both paid and earned media opportunities.
  • Develop and implement plans for complex special projects such as redesign of website, support of a fundraising campaign and publicity and messaging for high-profile events.
  • Ensures production of high-quality collateral pieces that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints. Requires working closely with vendors such as designers, printers and web developers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required:

  • Minimum of three years of communications, public relations or marketing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have dependable transportation and ability to travel to events which may be in the early morning, evening or on the weekend.
  • No criminal history and able to pass a background check

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
