The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for an assistant professor in the College of Business Administration’s Department of Finance. We anticipate one position available at our main campus in Orlando, Florida, with teaching responsibilities in both Daytona and Orlando.

This is a nine-month, tenure-track position in the Department of Finance starting August 8, 2024.  The successful candidate is expected to have expertise in Risk Management and FinTech related fields.

With some 8,500 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students enrolled, the UCF College of Business Administration is one of the largest AACSB-accredited business colleges in the nation.  The college offers part-time, executive and professional MBA programs as well as master’s degrees in accounting, management, real estate, taxation, and sports business management.  The college also offers a Ph.D. in business administration with tracks in accounting, finance, management, and marketing.      

The Finance Department (which includes the Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate) has 20 full-time faculty members including 16 tenured and tenure-track appointments. In addition to the Ph.D. in Finance degree, the Department’s new Master's of Science in FinTech program was launched in Fall 2022. It combines finance and computer science concepts to prepare graduates to succeed in the emerging Financial Technology industry. The department also offers a Professional Master of Real Estate (P.M.R.E.) degree and undergraduate degrees in finance and real estate.  For more information on the College of Business Administration, see our website at  http://www.bus.ucf.edu/ .

Orlando is one of the nation's most dynamic, diverse, and rapidly growing metropolitan areas. It is home to numerous cultural activities, major and minor league sports franchises, a wide variety of outdoor recreation activities, and countless theme parks and entertainment venues. Orlando is well positioned near the Space Coast in the center of the high-tech Interstate 4 corridor that extends from Tampa through Orlando, to Daytona Beach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in finance or a closely related field, from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong research agenda in finance and evidence supporting the potential for excellence in research publications.

  • Evidence supporting the potential for excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the fields of Risk Management and FinTech.
