The UF/IFAS Forage Team is hiring a versatile post-doc, interested in assisting with research and extension programs in general, and of leading two projects on integrated crop-livestock systems. There are three main components for this project: soils, focused on soil carbon and nitrate leaching; agronomic, to evaluate the productivity of each system; and socioeconomic, which is the major component of it, involving qualitative research. The candidate should have a background in agronomy or soils, preferred with practical experience in extension and agriculture, reliable, and that can operate independently. The candidate will need to be able to drive a truck with a trailer, operate soil sampling powered equipment, and be versatile to spend 3-4 days out of town per month on sampling activities. The candidate will be expected to participate and contribute to other activities with the Forage Team, assisting and mentoring students, taking the lead on data analysis and paper writing, and collaborating with colleagues to advance the research and extension projects we are involved in.

Timeframe of 2 years, but with potential for extending depending on engagement on grant writing. The post-doc will be housed in Gainesville, under the supervision of Dr. Marcelo Wallau. For more information, please reach out to us at forages@ifas.ufl.edu .

IFAS, one of the nation’s largest agricultural and natural resources research and education organizations, is administered by a Vice President and four deans: the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the Dean for Extension and Director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, the Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine.  UF/IFAS also engages in cooperative work with Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Minimum Requirements:

A PhD (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Agronomy, Animal Sciences or equivalent agricultural field; or in social sciences is required.
