Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Deputy Director directs the performance operations of the State of Maryland’s Small Business Development Center SBDC‘s Lead Center and reports directly to the State Director. This position works closely with the State Director to plan, manage, and report on the State of Maryland’s SBDC program activities. This position requires the ability to exercise independent latitude and judgment in the performance of its duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Master’s degree in business or a related field.

Experience:
7-10 years’ experience in organizational management, small business assistance, and contract and grant management and reporting.
Experience preparing federal and state grant applications (programmatic sections) required Contract management experience required.
Experience with supervision of professional and technical staff required.
Experience in a Small Business Development Center program or similar business/economic development programs.

Preferences:

Preferences:
Preferred knowledge of federal and state contract and grant compliance regulations.

Additional Information:

Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No Visa sponsorship is offered for this position.

This position will require minimal travel for business meetings, outreach, statewide and national conferences. Currently working assignment is between in-office and remotely environment until further notice.

Physical Demands

This position will require minimal travel to provide on-site visits with regions, outreach, training, and statewide/national conferences. Currently, the working assignment is remote until further notice. An active valid driver’s license is required. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
